Meta says 325 purchases. Your store shows 190. Which number is your ad budget trusting?

When tracking counts sales twice, or misses them, your ads optimize toward the wrong number. Send me your store URL on WhatsApp. Within 24 hours you get two screenshots: what your store sends, and where it breaks.

Free, no stringsChecked from the outsideShopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix

01 Calculator

Your ad budget learns from the purchases Meta sees. How many of them are real?

Takes a minute. Use the same 28 days for every number. Your numbers stay in this browser tab; this site’s analytics records only the final ratio.

Events Manager is where Meta lists every event your site sends. Open Data sources → your pixel → Purchase, last 28 days. If the Conversions API is connected too, click View details and enter the larger of the browser and server counts, not their total.

Online orders only, the same 28 days. Leave out POS, draft and test orders.

Ads Manager → Amount spent. Shows how much budget follows these signals.

Why Events Manager, not Ads Manager? Ads Manager shows only purchases Meta credits to your ads. Events Manager shows purchases Meta received whether or not an ad gets credit.2

Why not the total? With both the Pixel and the Conversions API connected, Events Received adds the two sources before duplicates are removed, so even a correct setup can show about twice your orders.2 If each source sends every purchase, each count should be close to your orders. Whether the two copies merge shows on the Event deduplication tab, under Overlap.

Signs of broken tracking

03 How it breaks

One sale. Counted twice, or not at all.

Follow order #1042 on its way to Meta and Google. Whoever runs your ads, this is the plumbing underneath them, and it can easily end up as nobody’s job.

Store 1Example

  1. Step 1 · The sale

    A customer pays $86 for order #1042.

One real sale. Meta and Google should each count exactly one.

    Store 1Meta —Google —

  2. Step 2 · Counted twice

The browser and the server both report it, with no shared ID.

Your Pixel sends a Purchase event from the browser. A Conversions API connection, set up through an app or on a server, sends the same purchase again from a server. Meta merges the two into one sale when both carry the same event name and the same event_id (a shared ID for that one order), within 48 hours. Without that match, Meta says you may see artificially high conversion numbers.5

    Store 1Meta 2Google 1

  3. Step 3 · Lost at checkout

The payment happens on another domain.

The customer pays on PayPal or a hosted checkout and never comes back to your thank-you page. In a browser-only setup, the purchase tag never fires.

    Store 1Meta 0Google 0

  4. Step 4 · Lost to the banner

A wrong consent setup keeps the tags quiet.

Declining cookies is the visitor’s right. But if Consent Mode is set up wrong, tags stay silent even after people accept, and Google gets no signal to model from.

    Store 1Meta 0Google 0

  5. Step 5 · After the fix

    One sale, one count, everywhere.

Browser and server send the same event_id, so Meta keeps one. GA4 gets the purchase with its value and items. Consent Mode follows each visitor’s choice.

    Store 1Meta 1Google 1

04 Why now

Platforms changed the tracking rules several times in 2026. Has anyone checked your setup since?

None of these needed a mistake on your side, and each one can change what your platforms count. Two apply only to Shopify stores.

  1. Meta announced a one-click Conversions API setup

It copies the events your Pixel already sends through a server connection. One more source to line up with whatever you run today.3

  2. Google: Consent Mode becomes the single control for Google Ads cookies collected by the GA4 tag

Google said the Google signals switch in GA4 no longer decides this. If your banner leaves ad consent denied, it limits what Google Ads can measure.6

  3. Google’s Shopify app started sending purchases to GA4 straight from Shopify’s servers

For stores on the Google & YouTube app. Google warns that leftover Google tags, including ones in Tag Manager, can cause duplicate tracking.7

  4. Shopify’s deadline for non-Plus stores to move to the new Thank you and Order status pages

Google tags added the old way (checkout.liquid, Additional scripts) don’t work on the new pages. If your Google Ads conversions have looked off since late August, start here.8

  5. Black Friday to Cyber Monday

Black Friday is Friday, November 27. Cyber Monday is November 30.9

“Meta is learning from 149 purchases with no matching order, about 41% of its purchase signals. Fixing the Pixel and Conversions API: $350 fixed, 2–3 days.”

What I check

  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API. One Purchase per order, a shared event_id, the right value and currency.
  • Match data. Whether email and phone go out with server events, hashed (turned into a one-way code before sending). Meta scores this as Event Match Quality, from 0 to 10.10
  • GA4 e-commerce. A purchase with items, value and transaction ID that match your orders.
  • Google Ads conversions. The conversion tag and Enhanced Conversions (hashed customer data that helps Google match sales). Google reports a median 5% conversion-rate lift on Search for early adopters.11
  • Consent Mode v2. Tags start as “denied,” switch on when a visitor accepts, and set no ad or analytics cookies when they don’t.
  • Checkout path. The thank-you page, payment domains and leftover tags from old apps.

06 How it works

No passwords. No calls. Four steps.

  1. Send your store URL on WhatsApp.

No logins, no passwords. I check from the outside, like any visitor would.

  2. Within 24 hours: two screenshots and a short note.

What’s broken and what it costs. If it needs a fix, you get one fixed price.

  3. If you go ahead: access, not passwords.

You add me as a user in your own accounts (GTM, Events Manager, GA4) and remove me when we’re done. I fix, place one test order and send a one-page summary of what changed.

  4. 14 days of free fixes.

If something I set up stops working in the two weeks after handover, I fix it at no charge.

I never touch your campaigns, budgets or creatives. Only the tracking.

09 After the fix

Fixed once isn’t fixed forever

Platforms change their rules every few months, and tracking breaks again without anyone making a mistake. Here’s what changed in 2026, and what’s already scheduled.

  1. Meta announced a one-click Conversions API setup

A new way to send server events, next to the ones you may already have.3

  2. Google: Consent Mode controls Google Ads cookies collected through GA4

Google said the Google signals switch in GA4 no longer decides this.6

  3. Shopify: deadline for non-Plus stores to move to the new Thank you and Order status pages

Google tags added the old way (checkout.liquid, Additional scripts) don’t work on the new pages.8

  4. Shopify: apps can no longer create or update script tags (code snippets that apps inject into a store’s pages)

Existing ones keep running, for now.13

  5. Later in 2026 · no date yetGoogle: ad personalization controlled only by Consent Mode’s ad_personalization signal

    Announced, not yet dated.6

  6. Shopify stops loading app script tags on storefronts

Tracking apps that still rely on them go quiet that day.13

A person, not a tool

Andrii Duhin
Andrii Duhin · Givatayim, Israel

I ran paid ads on Meta, Google and TikTok for four years, with about $550k in budgets, before I moved to tracking. On the advertiser side I saw what broken data does to a budget: the algorithm chases purchases that never happened.

Here my job is tracking only: making sure your platforms see what actually happens in your store. I don’t touch your campaigns. I work in English, Hebrew and Russian, mostly in writing, over WhatsApp and email.

Where I am, honestly

I’m at the start, so there are no testimonials or client logos here yet. The first stores I work with get a starter price in exchange for a short case study. Ask me about it on WhatsApp. Until then, judge me by the free check, one fixed price in writing and 14 days of free fixes.

11 Open check

Don’t take my word for it. Inspect this site’s tracking.

A tracking specialist’s own site should pass the test. Here’s how to check it in two minutes.

  1. Open the developer tools.

Chrome or Edge: press F12, or ⌥⌘I on a Mac. Safari: turn on the Develop menu first.

  2. Go to Console and type dataLayer.

You’ll see the consent defaults (all four ad and analytics signals “denied” until you choose) and every event this page has sent, such as cta_click, calculator_complete and whatsapp_click.

  3. Check Application → Cookies.

Until you accept, there are no _ga, _gcl or _fbp cookies.

    12 FAQ

Straight answers before you send your store

Do you need my passwords or admin access?

No. The free check needs nothing: I look from the outside, like any visitor. For a fix, you grant view or partner access from your own accounts (GTM, GA4, Meta Events Manager) and remove it when we’re done. I send a one-page guide on how.

My agency handles tracking. Why would I need this?

Your agency runs the ads. The tracking underneath can end up belonging to nobody, and an outside check is a second opinion from someone who isn’t grading their own work. Agencies can also hire me white-label (I do the work, their name goes on it): see For agencies.

    Will you touch my campaigns?

No. Campaigns, budgets and creatives stay exactly as they are. I change only the tracking. After the fix, you can watch the test order arrive once in Events Manager and GA4.

I’m not technical. Will I understand the result?

Yes. Two screenshots with the broken parts marked, and one line in plain English on what it costs you. Every technical term comes with a one-sentence explanation.

I don’t have time for this.

Sending your URL takes 30 seconds; I do the rest. A fix takes 2–5 business days after access, and you don’t need to be on a call.

    What if everything is fine?

Then I’ll tell you so in two lines, with no quote attached.

My tracking seems to work. Why check it?

Matching totals can still hide problems: purchases with no value, the wrong currency, duplicates that cancel out missed orders, or customer data that never reaches Meta. Checking costs you 30 seconds. If it’s all fine, I’ll say so.

You have no case studies yet. Why should I trust you?

Fair question. I’m new to tracking as a separate service, so there are no testimonials here yet. What I can show you: four years running paid ads with about $550k in budgets, a free check you can judge before paying anything, one fixed price in writing and 14 days of free fixes. You can also inspect this site’s own tracking in the open check above.

    Isn’t this expensive?

Compare it with your ad spend. The calculator shows how much of your Meta budget followed signals that don’t match your orders. The free check tells you whether you need a fix at all, and you get the exact price in writing before you pay anything.

Which platforms do you work with?

Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix and custom sites running Google Tag Manager.

What about GDPR and Consent Mode?

For visitors in the EEA (the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), Google requires you to collect consent and pass it on to keep using its measurement and remarketing features. Consent Mode v2 added two signals for this, ad_user_data and ad_personalization, in November 2023.14 I set Consent Mode up so tags respect each visitor’s choice. I’m not a lawyer, so the legal wording of your banner stays with you.

Where are you based? Do you work with US and European stores?

Givatayim, Israel. Yes: the work happens in writing over WhatsApp and email, so time zones rarely matter. I reply during Israel business hours and confirm timings with you in writing.
